Juno: Part II
After "sleeping on it" and thinking it through a little more carefully I decided I needed to take down the previous post on the movie Juno.
While I wrote the article with the abortion recovery ministry audience in mind, it occurred to me that others might run across this article and feel judged by my comments. In fact, some of my son's friends had seen the movie and loved it. Of course they are teen-aged boys without the life experience many of us here have had. Even so, I would hate for them to feel judged by anything I communicated in this forum.
Being judgmental or condemning of others is so contrary to what In Our Midst, A Safe Place and I are about. And any article that communicates otherwise is inappropriate for this newsletter.
So if any of you were offended by my previous post, please know I apologize deeply for that.

I saw Juno and loved it. Not because it was 'pro-life', but because it was so very real. It so accurately portrayed how our kids view sex, pregnancy and abortion, and yes, I believe we all must have our eyes open to that reality. It was, at its heart, a story about the difficulty of being a teenager today in a world where kids have to muddle along with issues and decisions way beyond their maturity.I think this sensitive story can give us compassion for the children who have to grow up in all this confusion.
I actually saw the movie on the recommendation of my 20 year old daughter who had an abortion herself when she was 15. She was very moved by this story.

Thanks so much for your comments, Tina. It's so good to hear another perspective. You are right on! Thank you for helping to set this record straight.
BTW: I am sorry for the loss your daughter and your family experienced due to abortion.... I pray God's most tender mercies upon you, your daughter and all others touched by this event.
Abundant blessings in Christ,
Mary
