Cautions for those who minister to the post-abortive:

• Never give out personal information (phone number, e-mail address, etc.)
• Always keep clear boundaries consistent with counselor/client protocol
• Always assess for Borderline Personality Disorder early in the counseling relationship.
• Always refer to a specialist for diagnosis and treatment if BPD is suspected.
• Always be prepared to refer to qualified licensed professional counselors or psychiatric care as needed. Keep a list on hand.
